Come up here before us.

일어나 가운데로 나와라.

Come up here before us.

 

 

오늘 표현은 의역이 많이 된 것으로 보입니다.

come up here는 이쪽으로 오라 뜻이고

before us는 우리 앞입니다.

그러니

직역을 하면

이쪽 우리 앞으로 오시오라는 뜻이 됩니다.

 

그렇지만

이렇게 하지 않은 것은 보다

사실적으로 표현하기 위함인 것으로 보입니다.

 

회당에 많은 사람들이 예수님 일행을

기다리며 앉아 있었는데,

그중에서 손이 오그라든 사람을 발견하시고

예수님께서 이리 나오라고 말씀하신 것을

구체적으로 나타난 것이라고 보입니다.

 

이렇듯 여러 사람이 모여 있을 때 

한 사람을 불러 세울 때

보통 come up here라고 표현합니다.

MK 3:1-6


Jesus entered the synagogue.
There was a man there who had a withered hand.
They watched Jesus closely
to see if he would cure him on the sabbath
so that they might accuse him.
He said to the man with the withered hand,
“Come up here before us.”
Then he said to the Pharisees,
“Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil,
to save life rather than to destroy it?”
But they remained silent.
Looking around at them with anger
and grieved at their hardness of heart,
Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.”
He stretched it out and his hand was restored.
The Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel
with the Herodians against him to put him to death.
