For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.

하느님의 뜻을 실행하는 사람이 바로 내 형제요 누이요 어머니다.

 

 

하느님의 뜻을 실행하는 사람이

For whoever does the will of God

 

바로 내 형제요 누이요 어머니다.

is my brother and sister and mother

 

 

 

오늘은 표현은 for로 시작합니다.

그런데 이 문장에 앞선 문장에서는

Here are my mother and my brothers.

이 먼저 나옵니다.

그리고 이어서 이 말씀이 나옵니다.

굳이 번역하자면 '~때문에' 그렇다고 하면 될 거 같습니다.

그러니까

하느님의 뜻을 실천하기 사람이기 때문에

내 형제요 누이요 어머니인 것이다.

라고 보면 되겠습니다.

 

이는 역으로 해석해보면

하느님의 뜻을 실행하지 않는 사람은

나의 형제도 누이도 어머니도 아니라는 얘기가 됩니다.

The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house.
Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him.
A crowd seated around him told him,
“Your mother and your brothers and your sisters
are outside asking for you.”
But he said to them in reply,
“Who are my mother and my brothers?”
And looking around at those seated in the circle he said,
“Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of God
is my brother and sister and mother.”
