“We have found the Messiah,” which is translated Christ.

“우리는 메시아를 만났소.” ‘메시아’는 번역하면 ‘그리스도’이다.

We have found the Messiah

오늘 복음에서 find를 왜 만났다고 굳이 표현했을까요?

그건 아마도 오랫동안 찾아왔던 그분을 발견했다는 의미가 강했던 거 같습니다.

그리고 그분이 멀리 계신느 것이 아니라 우리가 바로 만나고 왔다는

사실을 강조하기 위함이라고 생각합니다.

 

그리고 현재 분사형을 써서 단순한 과거의 사실이

아닌 지금도 계속 유효하다는 의미를 나타내는 것입니다.

 

'번역하면' 이거 번역하다 translate의 동사를

be + pp 형태로 바꾼 수동태인거 다 아시죠.

JN 1:35-42


John was standing with two of his disciples,
and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,
“What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher),
“where are you staying?”
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying,
and they stayed with him that day.
It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,
was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him,
“We have found the Messiah,” which is translated Christ.
Then he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said,
“You are Simon the son of John;
you will be called Cephas,” which is translated Peter.
